Byte’s
most ambitious and complex CD project to date, MI CLiMB was two years
in development before being distributed to teachers throughout the state
of Michigan. The Department of Education needed a CD ROM which would allow
teachers to browse, search, compare, print, and export thousands of documents
with inline graphics which relate to Michigan school curriculums for all
grade levels. To solve the client’s problem, Byte created
what is in effect a session based, threaded XML browser. Familiar software
conventions were employed to make the custom application approachable
and intuitive for users of widely ranging expertise levels. The application
was also programmed to allow users to download content updates from the
Internet.
